Class Act Steppers

Columbus, GA
Class
Act Steppers - Columbus formerly known as The
Fountain City Steppers is a social dance group formed in 2006 by
Jennedna “Jenny” Forte, a civil servant at Fort Benning, Georgia. Being a
huge fan of ballroom dancing, Jenny immediately fell in love with Chicago
style steppin’, a jazzy and soulful demonstration of graceful movements.
Realizing that steppin’ could possibly fill the entertainment void addressed
by so many adults in the community, Jenny immediately researched the
internet for any details pertaining to the steppin’ culture. Through her
search, Jenny came across the Class Act Steppers (Atlanta) website and was
soon in touch with Carol Granger, one of the pioneers of stepping in Atlanta,
Georgia. Carol personally came to Columbus, Georgia to initiate stepping
workshops. Under the tutelage of DJ Smooth (Arif Fahim) and Cherron Simpson, Columbus is moving forward in the steppin' game.
Class
Act Steppers – Columbus strives to grow and nurture a steppin’ community in
Columbus and surrounding areas by teaching couples dancing for entertainment
purposes and personal gratification. Our ultimate goal is to offer a
drama-free alternative to mainstream clubbing to mature-minded adults – to
revive the art and dignity of couples dancing for mature adults and
introduce the same to young adults who, unfortunately, may have never
experienced the way that a gentleman asks a lady to dance and then escorts
her back to her seat.
